Ok, if you have not owned a home or property within the last 3-5 years then you are considered a first time home buyer. So if you have been living in an apartment or another like type of housing situation, then you qualify for the FREE $8,000 tax credit that the government is offering. Here is another thought…..if you as a first time home buyer, are currently considering or even looking to purchase a home to live in, now is the time to act. Time is running out for you to claim the $8,000 tax credit for this upcoming tax return. What that means is if you close on your new home before the end of the year, you will get it on this tax return. And here is one more thing to consider, if you have owned your home for at least 5 years and have been considering finding a new place, there is up to $6,500 available for you.
Now, the good news is……that if you are not quite ready to make that move. The tax credit has been extended until early next year, so you could wait until after the new year begins, but then you would have to wait until 2010 tax return which you file in 2011.
We would love to assist you in your new home hunt. Just email us at homes@kutterandsmith.com or call us at 936-689-1018. We will help make your home buying experience as productive and enjoyable as possible.
